Three museums that were unified are the archaeological, historical and ethnological museum. This is one of the oldest museums in the country.
The territory of Skopje has been inhabited since at least 4000 BC remains of Neolithic settlements have been found within the old Kale Fortress that overlooks the modern city centre.
The bridge is the main symbol of Skopje, it connects Macedonia Square with the Old Bazaar.
With a frequent and vast bus network, getting around Skopje is relatively easy. Red, public buses can be used with the 'Skopska' card (available at green kiosks), which comes with an initial amount for a few trips. There are also privately run buses (any color apart from red), where you have to pay directly to the driver.
Compared to other European capitals, taxi is quite cheap in Skopje. But it is also very risky, as taxi drivers are 'flexible' with regulations when they transport foreign people.
