Nativity Cathedral is the main cathedral of the Moldovan Orthodox Church. In the 1830s the cathedral was built in a Neoclassical design. During the second World War it was bombed and in 1962 its bell tower was destroyed by the local communists. In 1997 they reconstructed the bell tower and it is standing there until now.
After one of the Great Steward Mihail Hancu's daughter expressed a desire for the religious life the king built the Hancu Monastery in 1678.
