Costa Brava

About Costa Brava

This coastline became well-known as 'wild sea coast', which is the Catalan name of Costa Brava, but it doesn't refer to the sea, instead it was named after the scalloped landscape, which is one of the most romantic coast of the Mediterranean sea.

Costa Brava is the closest part of the Mediterranean Sea's Spanish coastline to Hungary, it starts from the French border and ends at city of Blanes. Blanes is 60 km far from Barcelona.

Transportation

Bus

If you are mainly on vacation and are less interested in getting to know more cities in the area, you will be basically happy with the buses. The Sarfa, the local bus company operates regular services between several holiday towns and links them to Girona.

Taxi

Girona and the most popular seaside resorts are operated by taxi companies. Not in the smaller villages of the coast.

Car

For the convenience of the area, the car is the best choice. However, in many places in the old town, there is only a disproportionately high price or no parking at all, so it is best to look at the nearest parking lot in every destination.

Useful tips

If somewhere, you can definitely taste the original Catalan cream, the crème brulée's close relative, crema catalana.

The most famous resort town of Lloret del Mar is the destination of the most crowded young people. If you do not want to fall into the nightlife, choose Tossa de Mar.

As the region lies right on the French border and is close to the Pyrénées city-state between the French-Spanish border and to Andorra, the Costa Brava can be extended for a trip to three different countries.
